Despite being mostly retired from the game, Vanessa Selbst remains the highest-earning female poker player in tournament history and is the only woman to surpass the $10 million mark in total career scores. The 40-year-old New Yorker still has a nearly $1.9 million lead over the second-ranked player.
Selbst recorded 14 tournament victories, 19 six-figure scores and two seven-figure paydays. Her largest win came in the 2010 Partouche Poker Tour, which saw her earn $1.8 million. A few years later she took down the $25,000 high roller at the 2013 PCA for another $1.4 million. Selbst also has three bracelets, with more than $2.2 million in total earnings in WSOP events. While Selbst has been focused on family and her career in finance in recent years, she remains the woman on top of this leaderboard.
Hot on Selbst’s heels, however, is Kristen Foxen. The four-time bracelet winner sits in second when it comes to career earnings. The 37-year-old Canadian poker pro has now cashed for $9 million across nearly 200 in-the-money finishes. More than $1.4 million of that has come from her 21 cashes made so far in 2024, including a win in a $10,000 high roller at the PokerGO Tour Kickoff festival and her recent 13th-place finish in this year’s record-setting WSOP main event for a career-best payday of $600,000.
Kathy Liebert joins Selbst and Foxen as the only other female player to surpass $7 million in total earnings. The bracelet winner based out of Las Vegas has accumulated an astounding 493 cashes, including a $1 million win in the 2002 PartyPoker Million limit hold’em championship. The 56-year-old has managed a few deep runs in recent years and has been nominated for the Poker Hall of Fame.
Maria Ho holds the record for being the last woman standing in the WSOP main event three different times (see pg. 22), with six cashes in the tournament overall. Although she can usually be found lending her voice in the poker commentary booth, the 41-year-old keeps racking up scores, such as narrowly missing out on a bracelet in last winter’s WSOP Paradise series.
The rest of the top 10 is rounded out by longtime grinder and WPT Ladies Night winner JJ Liu, two-time bracelet winner Loni Hui, EPT champion and philanthropist Liv Boeree, WSOP Europe main event winner Annette Obrestad, PCA main event winner Maria Lampropulos, and card shark turned DJ Vanessa Rousso. ♠
