On Sunday, Jan. 12, Pam Belote emerged victorious in the World Series of Poker Circuit Choctaw $250 ladies event, securing her record-setting eighth gold ring. Belote was previously tied with La Sengphet atop the rings leaderboard for female players, but now has sole possession of the top spot after coming out on top of the 115-entry field to earn the hardware and $5,920.

Belote had almost managed the feat a few days earlier but ultimately fell one spot shy in the $600 escalating bounty event at the same festival at Choctaw Casino Resort in Durant, Oklahoma. The day before that runner-up finish, she also placed fifth in a $400 ‘Monster Stack’ tournament. Her three cashes at the series added up to a total haul of $23,598.

The Oklahoma resident now has nearly $217,000 in career tournament earnings, with the majority ($127,821) coming from her success in WSOPC events.

Belote’s first ring was also earned in a ladies event at Choctaw back in 2019. A couple of months later she took down a second ladies title, this time at the WSOPC Hard Rock Tulsa stop. She won that same event three years later for ring number three. Her fourth ring was also earned in a ladies event at Choctaw, in the fall of 2023. In fact, six of her eight rings have come in ladies tournaments.

Sengphet has seven wins, but her biggest tour cash was fourth place for $100,000 in the WSOP National Championship. Two-time bracelet winner Loni Hui sits in third place on this leaderboard with five WSOPC titles to her name, but by far the most in earnings with nearly $750,000. Almost half of that was pocketed when she won the WSOP National Championship in 2015. Janet Fitzgerald and Marsha Adams round out the top five, with each having four circuit rings in their respective trophy cases.

The women with three rings are Krista Gifford, Wendy Freedman, Cherish Andrews, Nancy Birnbaum, Jill Bryant, Kasey Lyn Mills, Melisa Singh, Daphne Turner, Cynthia Compton, and Shirley Rosario. Gifford stands out with a whopping 153 cashes on the tour, having found her niche in the WSOP Circuit online series, which run almost every month of the year. ♠
