Jeff ForrestThe final table of the 2010 World Poker Tour World Poker Finals $10,000 no-limit hold’em main event began on Tuesday at Foxwoods Resort Casino. A record number of draw outs stretched the final table past 200 hands and past the midnight hour into Wednesday before crowning a champion. Players moved all in consistently throughout the night, but they also consistently found the cards they needed to survive.

When it was all said and done a young poker talent stood atop the field of 242 players as a WPT champion that won a title in his very first WPT event. Jeff Forrest, a 22-year-old rising poker talent beat Dave Inselberg heads up after the two outlasted an impressive final-table lineup that included Keven Stammen, Mohsin Charania, Nikolai Yakovenko, and Thomas Marchese.

The other big storyline at the final table along with a WPT rookie champion was the repercussions it had in the Card Player Player of the Year race. When Marchese cashed in third place he took home 960 points. That gives him a total of 6,326 points and puts him ahead of former POY leader Dwyte Pilgrim who holds 5,576 points at the top of the POY standings.

Read on below to see how events unfolded on the final day of the tournament. The next televised WPT event that will take place in the United States is the Five Diamond World Poker Classic that will run at Bellagio from December 3-8. Card Player will be providing live coverage from that WPT from start to finish, see you then.
