John O'SheaThe PokerStars European Poker Tour Vienna has given the season 7 awards race a bit of a makeover. Joining the top ten due to EPT performances in Austria are main event champion Michael Eiler, Italian WSOP bracelet holder Dario Alioto, and Irishman John O’Shea.

Still in the lead for the Player of The Year award however is Portuguese businessman Fernando Brito with 1,460 points. Brito’s win in the €10,000 EPT Vienna High Roller event would have lengthened his lead but the event fell just short of the 16-player minimum. Hot on his heels is EPT Vilamoura champion Toby Lewis with 1,300 points, but there is still plenty to play for as this season’s Tour has only seen four stops so far.

Dario Alioto is currently positioned in third place in the Player of the Year race. The Italian pro took 575 points away from London, and added another 675 points in Vienna for two third place finishes in side events. Alioto is at the top of the board for EPT Omaha Player of the Year also, a title which he narrowly lost to William Thorson last year. Finally, he is in runner-up position so far to Matthew Ashton for the EPT Mixed Games Player award as well.

Kristijonas Andrulis has slipped to fourth place because of Alioto’s recent movements, and he is followed by familiar faces 2010 WSOP bracelet winner Tomer Berda, John O’Shea who has launched himself into the race due to performances in Vienna, Vilamoura, and London, and in joint seventh place are recent champions Michael Eiler and David Vamplew. Eiler has also knocked Kevin Stani from the top stop of the Online Qualifier of the Year race.

Here is the current EPT Player of The Year Top 10:

1. Fernando Brito (Portugal) 1,460
2. Toby Lewis (UK) 1,300
3. Dario Alioto (Italy) 1,250
4. Kristijonas Andrulis (Lithuania) 1,160
5. Tomer Berda (Israel) 1,080
6. John O’Shea (Ireland) 1,045

7. Michael Eiler (Germany) 1,000
9. Yotam Bar-Yosef (Israel) 950
