10 June, 2006 (Las Vegas, NV) - On Monday, June 12 through Friday, June 17, online players will have a chance to qualify in a freeroll and a chance to participate in the exciting world of televised poker in the
MANSION Superstar Challenge.
On July 12, the three free-roll internet qualifiers will vacation in Las Vegas, then battle it out against a trio of the world's top poker professionals in a single table MANSION Speed Poker™ shootout, each fighting for the lion's share of the $1 million purse.
It's the world's best value freeroll, and with only six finalists at the table, payouts will go to the top three finishers, giving them a 50/50 chance of finishing in the money. MANSION continues to raise the stakes in a live-to-tape poker event.
The three internet qualifiers will be flown to Las Vegas a week before the big game, for an intensive five-day Poker Boot-Camp, with qualifiers developing their skills and the pros helping them to prepare for combat. While a boot-camp implies that players will be working harder, they'll be playing hard too. Each student will be privy to an after hours itinerary usually only enjoyed by poker's crop of the coolest card players, visiting the city's most exclusive restaurants, having access to celebrated bars and nightclubs, and gaining entry into the biggest and most elite games in town. A fly-on-the-wall style camera crew will follow each team as work and at play are captured, packaged and broadcast, to over 100 million households worldwide.
As the six players line up at the felt, expect it to be a no-holds-barred assault in a bid to be crowned the world's most up-to-the minute Poker Superstar. Make no mistake - from novice through to the seasoned professional alike, when the runners enter the fray, the action is guaranteed to be fierce, no doubt creating some tense moments, hot-tempered exchanges and overall compelling TV Poker viewing.
Poker stars who have confirmed their participation as the starting pro field for the July event include Daniel Negreanu, Antonio 'The Magician' Esfandiari, Marcel 'The Flying Dutchman' Luske, Scott Fischman, Kenna James, and Kirk Morrison.
In a format designed to even the odds, the three online contestants will each start with more chips than their pro rivals, and each will also have a coach in their corner. These coaches will mentor their assigned protégé before and after the tournament.
A unique twist to the format allows the poker mentors to intervene twice throughout the challenge, while each coach is allowed one 60-second timeout from the sidelines, to be invoked at any stage as crucial plays unfold.
The four hours of eye-opening televised poker will be filmed at the interim home of The Poker Dome at the Tropicana in Las Vegas. This will be a must-see for poker fans able to attend.
The
MANSION Superstar Challenge will culminate three lucky winners, who'll face off against three poker pros in a six-handed shootout for a share of the $1million prize pool.
