PokerStars North American Poker Tour -- Los Angeles Day 1AA Strong Start Brought 330 Players to the Bike on Day 1A |
|
Day 1A of the PokerStars North American Poker Tour Los Angeles $5,000 no-limit hold’em main event took place today at the Bicycle Casino in Southern California. The first day-one flight attracted 330 players. It was a strong start for the final stop on the season 1 schedule for the NAPT, and this tournament should surpass 700 players tomorrow.
The chip leader at the end of play tonight is Nick Grippo who holds 235,100. In second place is Tom Middleton, who scored a double up early in the day and never looked back to finish with many times his starting stack. Some very familiar faces round out the leader board, including Scott Fischman, Matt Woodward, John Phan, Ravi Raghavan, William Reynolds, James Mackey, and Team PokerStars pro Jason Mercier.
The aggressive blind structure ensured that play moved along quickly today, especially in the later stages of the evening. After nine levels of poker there were just 147 players still in the hunt and they will be joined by the survivors from day 1B on Sunday. Speaking of Day 1B, it will get started at 1 p.m. PDT on Saturday, and you can follow along with all of the action in CardPlayer.com’s live coverage.
