Sebastian Homann Wins World Poker Tour Marrakech

The champion of the World Poker Tour Marrakech main event is 23-year-old Sebastian Homann. The German was chip leader for most of the event and kept the pace up at the final table which he overcame to take home €244,508, plus a $25,500 entry into the 2011 WPT World Championship.

With 220 players on the other side of the rail, Homann had to face just one more, Guillaume Cescut. In the final hand, the Frenchman raised to 125,000 from the button and Homann made the call from the big blind. Homann checked the J 4 3 flop and Cescut bet 150,000. Homann popped it up to 375,000, and when Cescut re-raised all in, Homann snap-called. Cescut showed A 4 while Homann was ahead with J 9. The K turn and 2 river didn’t change anything and Cescut had to make do with €135,831 for second place.

After his win, Homann said, “I felt so good today and really good about my game all week. I am a recreational player and this is by far my biggest win, I intend to put the money towards a new house and maybe a nice holiday with my girlfriend. I definitely intend to play more live tournaments now and am thrilled to have got entry into the $25k WPT World Championship – this takes everything to a whole new level. I will have to play more to prepare for the standard of opposition I am going to get there.”
