A bad beat jackpot of £222,000 has been won at the Casino at The Empire in London. Sixteen players, mostly regulars, finally struck gold for the first time since the jackpot was launched in February this year.

The bad beat occurred on a £1-£2 table when Rupert Graham’s quad sixes were beaten by Halit Avoyli’s quad kings. Graham would have lost £223 but instead won 50 percent of the jackpot – £111,000.

Avoyli, who won the hand, received the £650 pot and also 25 percent of the jackpot, a far juicier £55,000. The remaining six players on the table each received £7,500 and the eight other players in the room walked away with £1,400 each just for being there.

Hoan Tran, Club Director at the Empire, said, “We are proud to introduce this jackpot as a one of a kind in the UK – we are ecstatic that it’s been won, at long last, especially to a loyal customer!”
