Vanessa SelbstIt wasn’t quite the turnout Harrahs had hoped for, but when you factor in the Sunday start and its proximity to Christmas, the field of 136 at the 2010 WSOP Circuit Northeast Regional Championship was actually quite the pleasant surprise.

Many were drawn not by the prize pool, but by the opportunity to win their way into the season ending National Chamiponship, which will occur this May. Not only will the final nine make the televised final table on the Versus network, but they will all guarantee themselves a place among the field of 100 set to compete in the $1 million freeroll.

Of course, the money is nice too. After adding up all of the $10,000 buy ins, the total prize pool came to $1,279,624. All of the 15 players who make the money will be guaranteed at least $21,600, but the winner will take home a cool $358,295 for their efforts.

Only 92 players survived the first eight levels and sitting atop the leaderboard is none other than Vanessa Selbst with 126,375. Selbst used relentless aggression to take control of a table that weltered under the pressure and included notables such as Jason Dewitt, Christian Harder, Amnon Filippi, Allen Kessler, Chris Reslock, David Fox and Philip Collins.

She’s joined at the top by the likes of Jordan Morgan, Dan Kelly, Sorel Mizzi and Jim Collopy. The field will return on Monday to do it all over again, so be sure to join us at noon EST for all the action.
