Cofounder of PartyGaming, Anurag Dikshit, faced his fate at a sentencing in New York which could have seen him receive two years in prison. Instead, Dikshit received one year of probation with no jail time.

According to Forbes.com, the U.S. District Judge Jed Rakoff said, “I am persuaded that no jail time is appropriate here.” One of his reasons for this was to ensure Dikshit’s continued cooperation with the government, including in any future trials.

Dikshit came forward and pleaded guilty in 2008 to one count of violating the wire act and was fined $300 million. Between then and now he has sold off all his shares and distanced himself from PartyGaming.

At the hearing, Judge Rakoff asked why there have been no other prosecutions, and specifically mentioned PartyGaming cofounders Ruth Parasol DeLeon and Russell DeLeon, who have not been charged.
