Caesars Palace Launches New Winter Poker Classic

Caesars Palace will debut its new Caesars Winter Poker Classic Tournament series January 17 through February 4 inside the Caesars Palace Poker Room.

Tournament buy-ins for the 27 different events will range from as low as $120 up to $550 for the championship event. One special event on the schedule is the Oklahoma Johnny Hale Seniors Event on Jan. 29. The winner of this event will receive a cash prize and entry into the 2011 World Series of Poker Seniors Championship Event. A ladies event will also take place on Jan. 22.

The event that is expected to garner the most attention is a satellite into the NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship. The $230 buy-in tournament is open to everyone and begins Feb. 1 as a traditional multi-table tournament. However, once the field is down to 16 players, action will stop and those players will return the following day to play in a bracketed heads-up freeze out format. The winner of it all will earn a $20,000 seat into March’s invitation-only NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship to play against the game’s brightest stars on national television and have a chance at winning the tournament’s $500,000 top prize. Last year’s NBC National Heads-Up champion was Annie Duke.
