Recent World Series of Poker bracelet winner Richard “Chufty” Ashby from the UK has won an Aussie Millions ring for his victory in the eight-game mixed event in Melbourne.
The game attracted 68 participants and Ashby was trailing the final table of seven with just 59,000 in chips before grinding his way to heads up against Australian Bruno Portaro and taking him out in a no-limit hold’em hand hitting a pair of aces on the flop against Portato’s flopped kings.
He won AUS$23,000 to add to the $140,467 he lifted for taking down a $1,500 seven-card stud event at the WSOP during the summer.
