The PokerStars European Poker Tour is set to start its annual €5,000 main event in Deauville, France on Tuesday. Following what was a record-setting field of 768 players creating a prize pool of €3,686,400 in 2010, this year’s EPT Deauville visit will take place January 25-31 at a larger venue, inside the Casino Barriere (annexe at The Deauville International Centre).
The field in 2010 consisted of players from 50 different countries, and 21-year-old British pro Jake ‘neverbluff67’ Cody took down the title for €847,000. Former EPT champions Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier finished in 9th place and Mike McDonald finished in third place. Former WSOP main event champion Peter Eastgate finished in eighth place.
This year’s main event is expected to build off of last year’s success. Players will start with 30,000 in chips and levels will last for 60 minutes on the first day of play and 75 minutes on the following days. Blinds start at 50-100.
