The National Poker League (NPL) kicked off its inaugural season of The Vegas Open at Caesars on Friday, June 2 with the $1,000 preliminary events 1 - 10 wrapping up Thursday.

The ten preliminary winners will advance to the semi-finals for five heads-up poker matches starting tomorrow (Friday) on June 16 for the $25,000 freeroll. Players will be randomly drawn to compete against their rival, and the winner of each table will advance to the finals.

On Saturday, June 17 - after proving their heads-up skills - the five remaining contestants will return to one table, where the winner-take-all match will determine the NPL Vegas Open champion who will receive $100,000.

Quick program editing will allow the NPL Vegas Open to air the first of 13 programs on Sunday, July 2, at 10:30 pm EST in high definition on the INHD Network, one of the most widely distributed HD networks on cable today. Tournament directors and developers Rob Huxley and Kyle Morris, along with INHD executives gave us a sneak preview of an impressively slick production. The NPL Vegas Open promises television viewers fast-paced action and sleek graphics, all displayed in high definition.

The NPL is aiming at a younger generation of poker players and fans, yet many veteran players couldn't resist the action. Tony Cousineau, Max Pescatori, FullTilt professionals Richard "Quiet Lion" Brodie and Andy Bloch, poker journalist Oliver Tse, J.C. Tran, Arnold Spee, Card Player poker analyst Warren Karp, Perry Friedman, Can Hua and Michael "Grinder" Mizrachi, are only some of the big players that participated in the NPL Vegas Open.

During each episode, Ali Nejad will provide fresh commentary and poker advice, and World Series of Poker winner Scott Fischman will deliver his "Into The Tank" poker tip and analysis.
