Australia New Zealand Poker Tour Begins Season 3

Eight Destinations Are On The 2011 Calendar

Tony Hachem has won the ANZPT Player of the Year honor two consecutive years.Following the conclusion of another exciting Aussie Millions, the PokerStars Australia New Zealand Poker Tour has launched its third season with a visit to the Adelaide Casino in Australia.

The AUD$2,400 buy-in main event will run February 2-6, putting the exclamation point on a series of tournaments that have been taking place at the Adelaide Casino since January 25. On the same day that the main event final table plays out a AUD$4,000 buy-in event will also take place.

For the second stop of the season, the tour will head to the Burswood Casino for ANZPT Perth, with a AUD$2,500 buy-in main event playing out March 23-27. That stop will be followed up by another AUD$2,500 buy-in main event, this time at ANZPT Syndey hosted by the Star City Casino, April 13-17.

From there season 3 rolls along with ANZPT Gold Coast taking place at Jupiters Hotel & Casino with a AUD$2,500 main event scheduled May 17-22. Finally, ANZPT Canberra is set to play its $2,200 buy-in main event at Casino Canberra, June 10-13. The remaining season 3 schedule lists ANZPT Queenstown, ANZPT Melbourne and ANZPT Darwin, though no entry costs or dates have been announced yet.

In the ANZPT main events, players will start with 20,000 in tournament chips with blinds beginning at 50-100. Levels will last for one hour, with a 10-minute lunch break after every two levels.

Season 2 of the ANZPT concluded in October of 2010 with ANZPT Darwin. Throughout the second season a total of 1,901 players participated in ANZPT main events during stops in locations such as Darwin, Melbourne, Gold Coast and Queenstown. The total prize pool for all of the ANZPT main events surpassed AUD$4.3 million. Team PokerStars Pro Tony Hachem made history by winning the season 2 ANZPT Player of the Year honor, after he had earned the same honor in season 1.
