Commissioner Annie Duke and recently formed Federated Sports and Gaming League have announced the schedule for the first season. All four of the $20,000 buy-in, rake-free events will take place at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas during the inaugural season and will be accompanied by a Pro-Am and charity tournament.
In an exciting move, the league has decided to vary the tournament formats to include six-handed, heads-up and a special multi-format tournament at the conclusion of the season.
“We decided to vary the format of our events to showcase and challenge the skill of the best live tournament players in the world,” said Duke. “Our Pro-Am events will create opportunities for break-out stars to shine”
The new league is open to the top 200 players in the world, determined by Federated Sports and Gaming’s ranking system. Players who do not possess league cards will still be able to win their way into the regular season main events during the $1,500 Pro-Ams.
Each of the main events will featured overlays provided by the league and the top 27 players during the season will become eligible to compete in a $1 million freeroll. Duke commented on the extra cash up for grabs as well as the tournament’s structure.
“Because the Main Events have four or more days to play down to a winner from a start of approximately 200 players, we believe it will offer the best, most friendly structures for the skilled player out there. Great structures, no rake and generous overlays are integral to our celebration of the best live tournament players in the world.”
