The Boylepoker.com Western Open came to a dramatic close with Aidan Cullinane getting the better of his final two opponents in one go and scooping the top prize of €16,000.

Cullinane topped a field of 235 to become the Western Open champion. The final three-way all-in hand saw him knock out local Andy Morris and Roscommon’s Tom Gallagher when his ADiamond Suit 9Heart Suit hit a 9 on the flop. Cullinane said, “A-9 was the favourite hand of my friend who recently passed. It served me well today so maybe it was destiny that I won!

The €300 + €40 buy-in main event, which took place at Castlebar’s Breaffy House Resort in County Mayo, Ireland from Feb. 25-27, far exceeded its €40,000 guarantee with a total prize pool of €70,500.

Here are the results and payouts:

1. Aidan Cullinane – €16000
2. Andy Morris – €11,000
3. Tom Gallagher – €9,500
4. Chris Commons – €6,500
5. Nicky Power – €3,000
6. Vincent McNamee – €2,000
7. Aonghus Farrell – €1,700
8. Chris Commons – €1,400
9. Brian “Colcannon” Lannon – €1,200

The Western Open did things a little differently with a bit of a twist to traditional prize pool payout structures. Five percent of the prize pool actually went to each chip leader from the end of day 1 and day 2. Day 1’s end of day leader Vincent McNamee and day 2’s Aonghus Farell both received €3,500 for their efforts.
