Paul Cézanne, Les joueurs de carteTwo rival poker tours are scheduled to both kick off in England this week, within a day of each other.

Firstly, there is the the second leg of the 2011 Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) which is taking place in London’s Grosvenor Victoria casino, and secondly there is the third stop of the second installment of the PokerStars UK & Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) which is being held in Manchester’s G Casino.

Although one tour begins today and the other tomorrow, it could be said their schedules complement each other as best as possible. The GUKPT offers side events from today all the way through until Mar. 20, with its £1,500 + £90 buy-in main event beginning on Mar. 17 and running until Mar. 20 (including two starting days).

The UKIPT on the other hand gets straight down to business tomorrow with its £500 + £50 buy-in main event. The £200,000 guaranteed main event runs until Mar. 14 with side events taking place alongside it.

Last year, Joeri Zandvliet from Utrect, Netherlands topped the field of 518 at the UKIPT Manchester for a payday of £63,200, while Cuong Tran walked away from the GUKPT London with £127,800 for beating a 318-strong field including his final opponent, Neil Channing.
