APT Philippines Kicks Off Weeklong Schedule

The Asian Poker Tour (APT) Philippines event schedule is under way at Resorts World Manila. A total of 11 events are set to run from March 28-April 3. The first event (US$400 Heads Up Championship) began Monday and easily reached its max capacity of 64 entries.

A diverse mix of game formats will be offered in the coming days. There will be tournaments in limit hold’em, no-limit hold’em and pot-limit Omaha, but there will also be special events, such as Battle of Teams, High Rollers, Ladies of Poker, Head Hunter and more. A charity event is set to take place today, with 20% of the prize pool and add ons benefiting the Japanese Red Cross Society.

The most prestigious event on the schedule is the US$2,500 Main Event. Day 1A kicks off Wednesday and the event continues through April 3. Players will begin with 15,000 in chips and blinds will start at 25-50. Levels will last for 60 minutes.

Last year’s APT Philippines Main Event drew in 227 players and created a prize pool of $550,475. Local pro Michael Cua won the grand prize of $176,700.
