Goa Hosts $2,300 Buy In Main Event With Online Qualifiers At 888.com

Details of the first India Poker Open have been announced. The four-tournament festival will take place in Casino Carnival, Goa, India from May 12 to 15, 2011.

The schedule centres around a US$2,300 (INR100,000) main event starting on Saturday May 14. Additionally the festival features a $115 no-limit holdem rebuy and $230 no-limit hold’em freezeout as well as a $335 pot-limit Omaha tournament.

The event is organized by The Shark and IRPT who said is a statement “[we] see India as an emerging, but fast growing market and believe that within the next 12-24 months, India will become a regular stop on the Asian Poker Circuit with multiple international tourneys being held every year.

“The India Poker Open is the first step towards this direction and will be the Premier Indian Poker Tournament Brand.”

Online qualifiers are being held at 888.com until May 1, 2011.
