For the second consecutive year, the World Series of Poker Circuit Tournament of Champions is heading to California.

The WSOP announced Wednesday that the tournament would be held at the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles from May 15-17.

The freeroll event runs in the middle of the WSOP Circuit stop at the Commerce. It’s sandwiched between an $1,100 no-limit hold’em and the start of the $1,700 no-limit hold’em main event.

Unlike the other events scheduled for the series, only bracelet and ring winners from the 2024-2025 WSOP season are eligible to play the event. Furthermore, the winner will receive the year’s first WSOP bracelet.

“We are happy to return to The Commerce Casino & Hotel for the WSOP Tournament of Champions and our 15th consecutive $1,000,000 freeroll,” said WSOP CEO Ty Stewart in a statement. “With a $2 million guaranteed Circuit main event, WSOP satellites and nonstop action at the world’s biggest poker room, this is like the opening ceremonies for the 2025 WSOP.”

The WSOP will livestream the final table of the event, but details of the stream will be announced at some point in the next few weeks. Last year, Dong Meng bested a 559-player field to win a bracelet and $200,000.

The Tournament of Champions was originally dubbed the National Championship at its inception in 2011. As the tour added more international stops, event was eventually rebranded to the Global Casino Championship.

It was a freeroll for players who qualified on the WSOP Circuit by either winning the stop’s main event, the casino champion title, or finished in the top 50 of the season’s point system.

Additionally, players who were in the top 100 of the WSOP Player of the Year race had the option to buy into the event for $10,000. But in 2022, the WSOP loosened those requirements and it was opened up to a wider audience.

Now, it’s a freeroll for everyone who enters. Thus, the prize pool will be $1,000,000. No more and no less.

For most of its history, the tournament was either held as part of the WSOP in Las Vegas or at the start of the new Circuit season at Harrah’s Cherokee in North Carolina.

The event was held as an online poker tournament in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and it was skipped completely in 2021 for the same reasons.

In 2024, the tournament was held at the Commerce for the first time.

“The Commerce is thrilled to be welcoming back the WSOP Circuit Finals, as well as the T.O.C., both of which are such prestigious events,” said Commerce tournament director Cavin Quintanilla. “It takes a dedicated team to deliver legendary customer service and I am excited and honored to have the opportunity to collaborate with these two iconic brands. We will strive to uphold the integrity of the game, show everyone a great time and elevate each other’s legacy.”
