World Poker Tour -- Hollywood Poker Open Day 1Ali Eslami is at the Top of a Another Leader Board this Spring in Indiana |
|
Day 1 at the World Poker Tour Hollywood Poker Open no-limit hold’em main event attracted a field of 92 players and by the end of the night just 57 remained. The overnight chip leader is red-hot Ali Eslami with 147,000. Just last week Eslami won the World Series of Poker Circuit Western Regional Championship and he is positioned to make another deep run at the Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
2010 Card Player Player of the Year Thomas Marchese is also near the top with 92,275. Joining him in the top 10 are Allen Kessler (85,400) and Hoyt Corkins (62,225). Other notable survivors include Erik Seidel, Chris Bell, Shannon Shorr, Jonathan Little, Michal Bevenuti, William Reynolds, Shawn Cunix, Keven Stammen, Jason Koon, and Mike Sexton.
Day 2 should grow the size of the field tomorrow since registration will remain open until 1 p.m. local time. We will see if there is a large enough turnout tomorrow to match the total field of 143 players who participated in this event last year. Although that is unlikely the field should eclipse the century mark on Sunday. Check back in tomorrow evening for another summary of the day here on Card Player. Here is a look at the tournament statistics from day 1:
