PartyGammon.com, PartyGaming's newest addition to its gaming company, announced that it will hold the PartyGammon.com Million in the Bahamas in January. The winner will receive $500,000.

The tournament will be capped at 128 players, and half the players will have qualified through PartyGammon.com. Qualifiers for the $10,000 tournament are now taking place.

The PartyGammon.com Million will take place at the Atlantic Resort on Paradise Island, which is where the World Championships of Backgammon (WCOB) took place in the late 1970s. The WCOB now takes place in Monte Carlo, but the $500,000 guaranteed to the winner of the PartyGammon Million exceeds the top prize at the WCOB by $400,000. The tournament will also be filmed for television.

Players will be treated to a luxury-filled and educational week in the Bahamas. Players will arrive on Jan. 21, 2007, to a welcome cocktail party, followed by an exhibition match between two former champions.

The following morning, guests will attend a motivating lecture by a top player, who will also answer questions on game strategy. Beside the main event, there will be plenty of side action. The "Grand Finale" on Jan. 25 will be followed by a gala dinner and the awards ceremony.

The Atlantis Resort is one of the premiere destinations of the Bahamas, featuring a 34-acre waterscape; the world's largest outdoor aquarium; 11 exhibit lagoons with over 200 species of tropical fish; cascading waterfalls with a rope suspension bridge; Predator Lagoon with sharks, barracudas, and stingrays, including a 100-foot viewing tunnel; and a lazy river ride for rafting.

PartyGammon.com launched last month. PartyGaming also owns and operates PartyPoker.com, PartyBingo.com, and PartyCasino.com. For more information, visit PartyGammon.com.
