Phil HellmuthRecently Twitter has been overloaded with a constant stream of the poker world’s progress in the World Series of Poker main event. Bad beats and angry bust out comments seem to be the tweets de jour.

Aside from that, congratulations have been going out to recent WSOP bracelet winner Nick Binger. Binger simply tweeted, “I won :)” Adam levy was one of many who wanted to wish him congratulations, “Super congrats to @NickBinger on his #WSOP bracelet! Chalk one up for the good guys!”

The main story of the week however belongs to American Phil Hellmuth and his third runner-up finish of this Series. July 7 and 8 saw Hellmuth tweet, “Got heads up vs Brian Rast, had $17 Million to his $2.4…and LOST, sigh. Drinking Macallan 25 and Louis XIII at Aria high limit bar, sigh.” He then wrote, “On the positive side: won over $1 million for second place and took the lead in WSOP “Player of the Year” race…but OUCH!!!!”

Frustration was evident as he followed this up with, “Bright side: three second place WSOP finishes in 1 year might be a record!” And, “I feel horrible…WSOP “Players Championship” was firmly in my grip, 17 million to 2.4 M in chips…can’t sleep…at least i handled it well”

The following day saw him lay it to rest, “Congrats to Brian Rast, he played great, and all of the poker world truly loves him…Great guy…”

Another player having a good series is Matt Glantz. After Hellmuth made a big fold with two pair to Glantz’ all-in at the $50,000 Players Championship final table, he tweeted, “like Hellmuth’s fold with A7. I am repping AQ 77 AA and combo draws there only. Everyonw playing great there especially Phil and Rast.” Hellmuth may have folded but Minh Ly called and sent Glantz out in fifth place. Glantz tweeted, “$376,750 for 5th. Can’t complain. Cashed just short of half million for the wsop ’11 and still have main event tomorrow.” He later wrote, “The two that clearly played the best at the final table made it heads up. @tsarrast and @phil_hellmuth Congrats Brian. Well deserved!”

Glantz chose the first starting day of the main event and found himself on a table of doom. He tweeted, “Main Event Day 1A. I recognize every single player at my table. Is this even possible? @vanessaselbst , Barry Schulman & cardrunner pro” He then added, “Jason Alexander from Seinfeld sits down to my right to add some more flavor to the table.”

Of course not everyone has been having a great Series. On July 6 Padraig Parkinson said, “Matusow involved in heated arguement with another guy. They both claimed to be having a worse WSOP than the other guy. Matusow won” His comments suggested not all was going to plan for the Irish pro either, “Has anyone been in Walmart recently? Just wondering if they were still hiring"
