Online poker took another step forward in Italy this week with the long-awaited launch of legal and regulated cash games.
Previously online poker operators could only offer tournament poker.
The Ongame network was one of the first to launch with bwin and GDPoker (Gioco Digitale) brands along with Playtech and PokerStars.
Paolo Di Feo, Southern Regional Director for bwin.party, said, “We are excited about the launch of cash game poker in Italy. Cash game poker requires less effort from the player and is particularly appealing if you just want to play for a limited period of time. We are delighted that Ongame is one of the first-movers into this exciting new segment of the Italian market.”
Regulated online tournament poker was first launched in Italy in 2008.
