The £100 + £20 buy-in five-day GUKPT Goliath main event is coming up next month at the Ricoh Arena, the home of Coventry City Football Club. The £100,000 guaranteed event will take place from Aug. 24 to 28, and to spice things up a bit, players can now enter a team and compete for extra prizes.
Players can enter themselves and up to five teammates who they think can outlast the massive field expected. Points will be awarded to team members who finish in the money and the team who score the highest will get entries into the event next year, a trophy, and the chance to fight for £1,000 in a private online tournament.
Goliath is aiming to break the European record tournament field as it hopes to attract more than 1,600 runners. Not only that, 25 percent of each registration fee will go to Marie Curie Cancer Care, a charity partner to the Coventry City Football Club and Grosvenor Casinos.
Players will sit down to a 25,000 starting stack and 40-minute blinds for days 1 and 2. This will extend to 60-minute blinds for the final table. If a player busts out early, he/she will also have the opportunity to re-enter on the same day.
