German Takes Gold At Paradise Poker Tour BarcelonaAleksandar Abutovic Is Crowned Final Champ Of Paradise Poker Tour Season II |
|
Aleksandar Abutovic wrapped up season II of the Paradise Poker Tour by topping 311 players in the €500 buy-in main event at Barcelona’s Gran Casino.
A deal was made threehanded and then once again heads up, so eventually the German went home with €27,000 for first place. Abutovic’s final opponent Jose Maria Felices walked away with €28,000 for finishing runner up.
When the two got heads up, they were playing for €10,000 set aside for the champ from the threehanded deal. Felices held a 2:1 chip lead and offered Abutovic €2,000 from the €10,000, which he accepted.
It wasn’t too long before the final hand came (with blinds of 30,000-60,000), Felices raised to one million, committing nearly half his stack, and Abutovic made his last stand, moving all in. Felices made the call but was not in good shape with 4 3 versus Abutovic’s J J. The board fell K 8 7 5 giving Felices a straight draw, but the river was the 2 and Abutovic was crowned the winner.
After his win, the German said, “I’m happy because my son arrived about one hour before play began. I had a good feeling when he arrived and I told him I was going to do well… I’m very happy to win as this is the biggest thing I’ve ever won.”
