The World Cup of Poker VIII has begun pitting countries against each other online in order to find a nation of poker champs. The seven countries that make it through will play out a live final at the 2012 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas. At this stage, a pro poker player will also be added to each team as Captain.
Every national team has players in certain positions like in football, so there is a goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, and striker. Each position has its own online qualifier and these qualifiers are taking place this weekend.
The four players on each national team then get to battle players from the other countries in their regional group who won their position on the national team also. The country team that does the best across all four tournaments will advance to the live final at the PCA.
