Just weeks after avoiding punishment from Major League Baseball for his participation in underground, illegal poker games, New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez is back in the headlines again for allegedly being spotted in a high-stakes gaming room at the Mohegan Sun Casino.

Rodriguez was in the Poconos awaiting a minor league rehab start when he was seen with his entourage in the Connecticut property. Casino employees stated that Rodriguez was trying to keep a low profile in the room that mostly consisted of slot machines and blackjack tables, along with a special poker table for high-stakes action.

Rodriguez denied reports that he was in the gaming area of the casino, stating that he was only present at the Ruth’s Chris steakhouse. The third baseman was on the big league disabled list until recently, when he was called up for Sunday’s game.

There is no MLB penalty for players who gamble legally, but Rodriguez is sure to face scrutiny for his decision to even visit a casino after his involvement in underground games was revealed last month.
