After two starting days that included a re-entry, the World Poker Tour Legends of Poker was able to draw a total field of 757 for it’s $3,500 main event.
Of those players, 116 had played on day 1A and were eliminated, but thanks to the allowable re-entry for day 1B, they were able to try again. Furthermore, a few players were actually able to forfeit poor chip counts at the end of day 1A and start with a fresh stack the next day.
In total, the field generated a prize pool of $2,570,015, allowing the eventual winner to walk away from the Bicycle Casino on Tuesday with $758,085.
The top five players will earn six-figures, but anyone who sneaks past the money bubble at 81 players will earn at least $7,000.
After nine levels of play, it was J.C. Tran who stood atop the leader board, bagging up with 265,000 in chips. That’s good enough for first place overall, barely edging out day 1A chip leader Matt Berkey who had 248,500.
The action will resume Saturday at 1:00 p.m. with the combined field of 340 or so survivors.
