Paddy Power Poker “Performance Improved”

Irish Bookmaker’s Poker Business Defies Challenging Market

Paddy Power, the publicly-quoted Irish bookmaker which operates PaddyPowerPoker.com on the iPoker network, today issued its interim statement for the first six months of 2011.

While the company does not report figures for its online poker division it did state, “While the Poker market continues to be challenging, our performance improved over the course of the period, boosted by new marketing initiatives, strong online qualification for the Paddy Power Poker Irish Open and enforcement of the US online gambling prohibition against certain competitors.

Overall the company continues to grow rapidly, particularly online. PaddyPower.com saw active customers up 48 percent, gross win up 35 percent to €101.1 million and operating profit up 26% percent to €36.5 million.
