FairPlayUSA, a Washington-based non-profit campaign for licensed and regulated online poker, has added former FBI Director Louis Freeh to its advisory board. Freeh joins former Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge, Internet safety expert Parry Aftab, and poker’s Greg Raymer and Mike Sexton.

“Current federal laws fail to provide U.S. law enforcement vital tools to address illegal internet gambling, enabling a ‘wild-west’ atmosphere,” Freeh said. “I am joining FairPlayUSA to improve this environment by clarifying these laws, better empowering law enforcement agencies to crack down on violators and using licensing and regulation to ensure safe and legal online poker.”

The coalition was formed in late July and is funded by casino giants Caesars and MGM. Its purpose is to educate policymakers and the public that regulated online poker would protect consumers. The group has not endorsed specific legislation.
