Polishman Grzegorz Gosk has won the PokerStars Estrellas Poker Tour Ibiza main event, receiving €92,100 for topping a field of 426. The odds were good at the final table for a Spanish champion with Gosk being the only player from another country but he outlasted all his opponents and now takes the trophy home to Poland.
Gosk’s final opponent was Alvaro Santamaria who could not get the better of him and left the popular holiday destination €58,600 richer for finishing second.
The heads-up battle was far from a walk in the park and the lead was swinging back and forth when the last hand finally came. Santamaria made it 130,000 on the button prompting Gosk to move all in. Santamaria made the call and flipped over A 4 which was behind Gosk’s A Q and fell even further so as the board came down K 7 2 2 Q.
After his victory, Gosk said, “This is the best time in my life. It’s my sixth live poker tournament and this is my biggest win.”
Santamaria said, “Gosk was a very good player and I knew it. He was not aggressive at all and it was impossible for me to pick up any tells.”
