Sam HoldenOne of the biggest, if not the biggest, weekends in poker has arrived. The final stage of the World Series of Poker main event will begin to play out and the entire poker world will be tuning in. Nerves, excitement, and anticipation are clearly visible on Twitter in the run up to finding this year’s champion.

On Oct. 27 Phil Collins let everyone know he was “Back in Vegas! #homesweethome” And then on Nov. 4, the popular pro simply wrote, “Go the distance.”

Britain’s representative Sam Holden checked in on Twitter on Oct. 30 saying, “Wow tyvm to @WSOP for this sick suite at the rio, a nice surprise at the end of a brutal day of travelling”

Matt Gianetti has been doing his best to steer clear of temptation and stay focused until the final table is over. He did have time for one last party though and tweeted on Oct. 29, “going on a friends jet tomorrow to LA for a Halloween party at the playboy mansion… should be fun, back in vegas to study up on Sunday” After having to turn his friends down for nights out, Gianetti wrote on Nov. 1, “Brain cell saver mode sucksssss… most fun night of the year in vegas and i am home taking it easy… #BeWorthIt”

Most recently Gianetti tweeted, “After the final episode aired feels like its now officially gameweek and our #bye4months is over.”

Ben Lamb was also looking ahead to the big day, saying, “Black friday may have killed my ability to play online poker, but my biggest Sunday in poker is right around the corner #legggooo”

Of course other players, fans, and friends of the November Nine have been making comments. As soon as Sam Holden checked in, Bryan Devonshire wrote to him saying, “Hello. Welcome to town. Wanna go drinking this week?” Ben Lamb saw Devonshire’s tweet and wrote, “@devopoker good try on @Sam_Holden888. Try the other guys?”

But his attempts were not successful, as just like Giannetti, Lamb’s opponents were not going to be led astray. When Irishman Eoghan O’Dea surfaced on Twitter from Sin City on Nov. 3, he wrote, “Vegas is pretty quiet. On a 1am curfew though :)” Devonshire was adamant in finding a November Niner drinking partner however and wrote, “1am was hours ago mate.. wanna go drinking this week? My brother runs a bar here.” The Irish pro resisted temptation and replied, “Ha no drinking for me this week. Next week Devo :)”

Devonshire then tweeted Lamb saying, “These guys are tough even @EoghanODea turned me down. Might have to result to wake-up calls and stealing do not disturb signs.”

In the meantime, Phil Hellmuth was getting worked up for a big two days of high intensity poker. On Nov. 1 he tweeted, “LIVE on ESPN this Sunday at 3:30 est: the “November nine” play for $28 million!! As a commentator I’m reading player Bios + watching tape”

Most of the poker world are currently making arrangements to stay up late or get up early and watch proceedings, depending on where in the world they are. That is if they are not heading to take their seats beside the spotlight of the final table in Vegas. This time next week headlines featuring our new world champion will only be beginning to calm down. The question is what will you be doing this weekend?
