On Tuesday, Nov. 8, poker professional Ben Lamb finished third out of a field of 6,865 in the 2011 World Series of Poker main event.
To go along with $4 million as consolation, Lamb now sits in first place in Card Player’s Player of the Year race. He leads with 6,036 points, after accumulating 2,400 from the main event.
Lamb has $5,351,467 in earnings so far this year, bringing his lifetime total to nearly $7.5 million.
Lamb passed Chris Moorman, who has 5,875 points.
Much of the attention at the final table was on Lamb, who was closing out one of the best summers in the history of the Series. Lamb won a bracelet in June, to go along with a final table in the $50,000 Players Championship and a runner-up finish in another event.
Remarkably, all of his 2011 POY points have come from WSOP events. Lamb chose not to attend the WSOP Europe.
Along with Lamb, Pius Heinz, the winner of the main event, jumped up big time from his performance. He now sits in 10th with 3,960 points.
