VegasInc reported Monday that in February the Nevada State Gaming Control board will begin the process of accepting applications for interactive gaming licenses, which would allow online poker sites.

The Board’s chairman Mark A. Lipparelli told industry insiders at the U.S. Online Gaming Law conference at Aria last week.

If licensed, companies would be able to provide intrastate gaming to residents. A bill that was signed into law this past summer would allow operators to offer the product nationwide if Federal law makes it permissible.

Reportedly, companies already with a Nevada license will face less of a hurdle in the investigative process than those new to the state’s industry.

In early November, the Board held a hearing but did not take any formal action on amended regulations for interactive gaming. Lipparelli said that it will happen in December when the Gaming Commission meets. He admitted that the proposals still need “clarity” in the upcoming weeks.
