Event no.4 of the iPOPS, a $125 + $10 no-limit hold’em freezeout, began on Dec. 4 with 3,383 hopefuls and after playing down to 27 players and awaiting their fate until Dec. 10, a winner was finally found on Dec. 11.
Tomas Mitell beat Veronique Gourdon in the last battle of the tournament to take the first-place prize of $90,550 back home to Sweden. Gourdon’s pocket jacks were destroyed by an ace on the river with Mitell holding A-K.
The event was streamed live with hole cards (hence a 30-minute delay) from the Ambassador Casino, Wenceslas Square in Prague. The exciting final was viewed by poker fans via Winmedia.ie, William Hill, Parimatch, and Titan Poker.
