John Duthie Confirms Departure From PokerStarsEPT Founder Decides Against Renewing Contract With PokerStars |

As rumours broke that John Duthie was no longer part of Team PokerStars Pro, all kinds of reasons flew back and forth on forums and across social media. With no press release from PokerStars, it appeared that the well-respected player and founder of the European Poker Tour had silently disappeared from the site’s roster, but one still hoped.
At TwoPlusTwo, posters suggested all kinds of reasons including one which stated that the site let the poker mogul go because he wouldn’t quit smoking. Duthie settled the rumours by personally posting in response:
“Hey Guys… I’m afraid this decision had nothing to do with the VPP situation or the ‘Sit-Out’; it was quite simply that I didn’t want to renew my contract which expired 31st December. There was also no Tweet to this effect. All very self-centred to be honest.
Love the idea of being ‘Tribune of the people’ but sadly this is not the case."
Although no longer part of Team Pro, Duthie is part of poker history and no doubt will be for the foreseeable future.
