Andrew Wan Wins Dusk Till Dawn £500 DeepstackWan Time For Andrew At Dusk Till Dawn Poker Club's First £500 Deepstack |
|
Dusk Till Dawn poker club’s first ever £150,000 guaranteed, £500 buy-in deepstack was an astounding success, needing 300 to make the guarantee, but attracting 433. Andrew Wan was the last player standing when the dust settled. Wan was a threat from the start, amassing a good stack on day 1A and in no need of the re-entry option on the second starting day.
The final table featured six regulars plus Pete Linton who was hoping for back-to-back victories following the £300 deepstack in December. Linton couldn’t hold on for long enough and busted out in fourth place for £15,160 however. He was followed by Waheed Asharaf, the first ever Monte Carlo winner at Dusk Till Dawn, in third place for £21,603.
With the lion’s share of the £216,500 prize pool on the line, as soon as it got to heads up, Frank Flanagan and Andrew Wan decided to chop it up, £45,000 each with £7,500 left over for the eventual winner. That winner turned out to be Wan but not before Flanagan doubled up to make them even in stacks with Q-2 versus Q-J, hitting a deuce on the turn. Flanagan’s final move came when he shoved with J-9 and found it was he who was up against Q-2 this time. The board fell 6-5-4-3-10 and once again Q-2 was victorious, ensuring Wan received the title and £52,500.
Dusk Till Dawn are already looking forward to holding the next £500 deepstack on the first weekend in February.
