Probability plc, a U.K.-based mobile gaming company, has applied for a license to participate in a looming Nevada intrastate online gaming industry that would begin with poker, according to a Saturday press release.
However, the company is concerned about being successful in obtaining a license.
According to the release: Chief executive “[Charles Cohen] said the difficulty of getting a gaming license in places such as Nevada will also mean significant barriers to entry for smaller companies trying to break into the U.S. from abroad and restrict the market to large established companies such as Probability.”
Only Nevada’s brick-and-mortar casinos can operate online poker. However, technology companies can apply and work in partnerships.
According to the release, Probability has already started talks with possible partners in the U.S.
According to the release, Probability is known for LadyLuck’s online slot games. It also licenses its technology to a number of bookmakers.
The company is now the 13th to apply in Nevada.
