The 2012 European Poker Tour Copenhagen festival is set to begin February 19th and run through the 25th in Denmark’s capital city. This year the Casino Copenhagen will play host to a total of 21 events, with the centerpiece being the 35,000 Danish krone Main Event that begins on the 20th.
Last year’s EPT Copenhagen Main Event saw 449 entrants post the buy-in, which translated to roughly $6,400 in American dollars. The total prizepool of $2,769,554 was divvied-up amongst 64 players that made the money, with the lion’s share of $679,244 going to eventual champion Michael Tureniec. The Swedish pro also received a whopping 1,920 Card Player Player of the Year points for the win.
In addition to the Main Event, plenty of other sizable tournaments are scheduled to take place in Copenhagen. A 35,000 DKK ($6,200) pot-limit Omaha six-max event kicks off on the 20th, a 50,000 DKK ($8,859) no-limit hold’em re-entry event will begin on the 24th, and the following day a 50,000 DKK ($8,859) no-limit hold’em six-max event is set to take place. All told, there will be eleven events at the series which will qualify for POY points.
