This Week In Tournament Poker -- Feb. 27 Through Mar. 5

In this new Card Player feature we are looking to provide our readers with a guide to some of the biggest poker events taking place in their area for the upcoming week. CALIFORNIA

• The 2012 L.A. Poker Classic (Jan 18, ‘12 – Feb 29, ’12) — The Commerce Casino’s flagship tournament series is approaching the conclusion of it’s 2012 berth, with the $10,000 Main Event reaching the money today. There are still a few events for players to try their hand in as the big dance approaches its final stages, including the $2,080 eight-game mix championship that begins on February 27th and a $1,100 no-limit hold’em bounty turbo.

• 2012 $200,000 Winter Hold’em Series (Feb 24, ‘12 – Mar 04, ’12) — The Hollywood Park Casino in Inglewood kicked off a unique $80 buy-in no-limit hold’em event re-buy event with an incredible nine starting days on February 24th, leaving players a few more days to enter this $200,000 guaranteed prize pool event which will also have a guaranteed $50,000 first-place prize.

• The 2012 Winnin’ o’ the Green (Mar 02, ’12 – Apr 05, ’12) The Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens is hosting 22 events throughout the month of March starting on the 2nd, with a number of great options for players, including a $365 buy-in World Team Poker event with a $30,000 first place prize guarantee.

NEVADA

• The 2012 Caesars Winter Poker Classic (Feb 10, ’12 – Mar 01, ’12) — This winter series is nearing the last of its 42 total events, with eight events remaining, including a $130 five card pot-limit Omaha eight-or-better that starts on February 27th, and a $240 buy-in pot-limit Omaha event that starts on February 29th.

• The 2012 Wynn Classic (Feb 22, ‘12 – Mar 15, ’12) — The 16-event 2012 Wynn Poker Classic is moving into its second week, and there a number of big events set to kick off in the coming days including a $550 pot-limit Omaha eight-or-better event that starts on March 1st, and a $1,070 no-limit hold’em event that begings on March 3rd.

• The 2012 World Poker Challenge (Mar 01, ‘12 – Mar 11, ’12) — The Grand Sierra Casino and Resort in Reno is hosting 32 total events, with the first weeks highlights consisting of two $340 no-limit hold’em events that begin on March 2nd and 3rd.

FLORIDA

• The 2012 Battles at the Beach (Mar 01, ‘12 – Mar 26, ’12) — The Isle Casino in Pompano Beach has scheduled 16 events spanning much of March, and it is kicking off with a four-day $330 no-limit hold’em re-entry event that starts on March 1st.

MIDWEST

• The 2012 Chicago Poker Classic (Feb 23, ‘12 – Mar 05, ’12) — The Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana is into the second week of its 11-event series, with a $1,100 no-limit hold’em heads-up event beginning on February 28th and the $3,125 no-limit hold’em Championship Event starting on March 2nd and running until a champion is crowned on March 5th.

NORTHEAST

• The 2012 Parx Open Winter Showdown (Feb 27, ‘12 – Mar 06, ’12) — The Parx Casino in Bensalem, PA has 13 events lined up for this tournament series that kicks off today on February 27th. The first event is a $300 buy-in re-entry event, but in a addition to hold’em there are also two Omaha events, a $230 limit Omaha eight-or-better event that starts on February 29th and a $230 pot-limit Omaha event that starts on March 2nd.

• The 2012 WSOP Circuit Caesars Atlantic City (Mar 01, ‘12 – Mar 12, ’12) — The WSOP Circuit pulls into town for 12 gold-ring events in early March, with the highlight of the first week being the $555 no-limit hold’em event that starts on March 4th.
