Poker players who are fans of word and skill game apps have something new to try out this weekend as Synqua Games has just released their newest genre blending game, Word Poker, to the App Store.
Word Poker mixes the familiar (and popular) word game genre with all the trappings of a game of poker. The cards are dealt and if you think your hand is good you can raise the stakes or, indeed, fold. Then when the betting is over the countdown begins and you have to make as many words as possible within the time in order to win the round and the money.
The app features three opponents but it also has Game Center integration so players can compete with Word Poker fans from all over the world from their Apple iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad. Scores can also be shared on Facebook and Twitter.
The game is available now in the App Store and the good news is it’s free. Players get 10,000 chips and can bet high or low, learning new words in the process with the built-in dictionary.
