Four of Europe’s leading gambling stocks fell yesterday after the market got jittery over news out of Spain and the U.S..
Analysts Daniel Stewart & Co. said the retreat from Playtech, bwin.party, Betfair and Sportingbet was due to a, “Weak Spanish bond auction combined with negative news from the FED relating to Quantitative Easing (QE) out of the US triggered a market selloff yesterday.”
“Gambling Operators with exposure to Spain were hit hardest across the sector.”
Playtech fell 4 percent, Sportingbet drop 3.5 percent, bwin.party lose 2.5 percent and Betfair down 2.9 percent.
All four operators have significant online poker businesses.
