Shaun Deeb Captures Fourth Spring Championship of Online Poker Title in 10 DaysPoker Pro Not Especially Impressed by Historic Run |

On Saturday, Shaun Deeb won his fourth PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker title in just 10 days — defeating 85 in the $2,000 H.O.R.S.E. However, he doesn’t think his record-breaking run is that special.
“It’s not as sick as everyone is making it out to be,” he told Card Player. “All fields were under 100 people, and the events had amazing structures. A lot of [my opponents] aren’t full-time mixed-game players.”
His first three wins this month came in variants of stud.
Deeb, who is playing from Mexico, said he would take Viktor Blom’s 2012 performance over his “any day” because Blom’s fields were tougher. Blom won back-to-back events, outlasting a combined 8,700 players.
Despite his modesty, Deeb is feeling confident heading into the World Series of Poker, which starts on May 27. He is still without a bracelet at the annual summer festival.
“Running hot makes you think clearer, and people are less likely to be tricky versus you because they’re afraid you’ll read their soul.”
Poker media and fans of the game have long entertained conversations about who are the best players in the world without a bracelet. Deeb calls such debates “frivolous.”
“I’ve been around for a long time and played a lot. I don’t play in a way to become the best. I play in a way to win the most money.”
The New York native has won more than 30 tournaments, collecting about $3 million in earnings, since bursting onto the scene in 2006.
Between cash games and tournaments this summer, Deeb said he will “basically never sleep.”
