PokerStars announced today that it has cancelled August’s Macau Poker Cup with Macau special events unconfirmed for the rest of the year.
The Macau Poker Cup: Red Dragon will go ahead as planned from Jun. 9-18 at the Grand Waldo Entertainment Complex, but with no specific reason given other than “events beyond our reasonable control”, that will be all for now.
This comes not long after PokerStars released its schedule for season 9 of the European Poker Tour where the amount of events was pulled back from 14 to seven plus the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. The stops will, however, be almost two weeks long with a variety of action including a selection of high stakes events.
Concerning the previously announced Macau Poker events, Director of Live Poker Operations for the Asia-Pacific, Danny McDonagh said, "Due to events beyond our reasonable control, the Macau Poker Cup scheduled for August is, regrettably, being cancelled. We cannot yet confirm the scheduling of PokerStars Macau special events for the rest of 2012, but hope to do so as soon as possible.
“I assure all our loyal players and partners that PokerStars Macau is still deeply committed to creating the best poker experience in the world and my team is focused on showing that commitment this upcoming week at the Macau Poker Cup.”
