And then there was one spot left.
The Super 16 round of the Poker Superstars Invitational Tournament 3 will end next week, giving Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, and Carlos Mortensen one more chance to make it into the next round. On Sunday, Todd Brunson claimed seat No. 7 in the quarterfinal round.
Brunson joins Freddy Deeb, Johnny Chan, Antonio Esfandiari, Mike Matusow, Card Player Magazine CEO Jeff Shulman, and Gus Hansen. Quarterfinal play begins in two weeks.
But first, the final three players must battle each other to see who will join them. That match will be shown on FSN Sunday. Brunson entered the Super 16 as the No. 4 seed and for all his hard work in the first round, the luck of the draw gave him a seat at the hardest table of maybe all the Super 16 matches.
But Brunson has been on fire this PSIT 3, and he moved to the top of this class Sunday night, leaving the three top pros to scramble among themselves for the eighth and final seat into the quarterfinal round.
PSIT 3 is aired every week on FSN. Check your local listings for air time and click here to view CardPlayer.com's complete Internet coverage of the series.
