The seventh leg of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour has been won by chartered financial planner Rod Albright. The Brit takes home £11,900 from the G Casino, Plymouth, plus a seat in the 2012 Champion of Champions tournament.
This was the Tour’s second ever £550 buy-in deepstack main event, and the players set out with a 50,000 starting stack. Albright topped a field of 76, slightly more than the past few main event stops in the UK. The previous event, the GUKPT Belgium, attracted 95, against the backdrop of a cancelled Dublin event.
The heads up saw blinds reach a massive 50,000-100,000 before the final hand came after about two hours. Albright’s 6-4 was good for a full house on a board reading Q-6-4-6-2, and Fei Yue, who mucked his hand, left with £8,450 for his runner-up finish.
Here are the final table results and payouts:
1. Rod Albright £11,900
2. Fei Yue £8,450
3. Joanne Ramsden £5,600
4. Arkadiusz Sinkiewicz £3,300

6. Phil Pattenden-Oxenham £2,000
7. Alan Parsons £1,600
8. Buck Taylor £1,350
