$4 Million Won In PokerStars MicroMillions So FarGermany And Russia Dominate First Half Of MicroMillions Poker Festival |

The PokerStars MicroMillions is a little over the half-way mark with $4 million in prize pools already won. The online poker festival is running for the second time only and with the average buy-in less than $5, guarantees are being smashed at every turn with players of all kinds flocking to the virtual felt.
One such player is Team PokerStars Online member Andre “acoimbra” Coimbra who is rising to the challenge of playing each and every tournament of the 100-event festival. This does not leave much time for sleep and so far the Portuguese player has 11 cashes.
Two nationalities standing out so far in the low-stakes series are Russia and Germany. The United Kingdom has also had a good few winners, one of which took down the very first tournament, an 11-cent rebuy event. This attracted 56,870 runners and saw 328,190 rebuys and 19,569 add-ons to ensure the $10,000 guarantee was beaten four times over. With just 100 players receiving cash prizes, “cittadipace” ended the event with the first-place prize of $7,332.37. The next British winner would come in the form of Toria06 in the fifth event.
The second event, a $1 no-limit hold’em rebuy 3x turbo, attracted 36,734 players and saw 165,747 re-buys and 16,691 add-ons, pushing the prize pool to just below the $200,000 mark, well above the $150,000 guarantee. Before this event, Russian player geydrikh had played in 417 tournaments and had won $2,112, but he turned that around with a $17,500 pay day.
The biggest winner at this stage came in event no. 4, the $3.30 no-limit hold’em rebuy [Action Hour]. It was yet another Russian winner (a Russian also won the third event) with “Iwantbearich” topping the 13,757-strong field for the top prize of $18,566.47.
The first German win of many came in event no. 6, the $2.20 no-limit hold’em rebuy 2x turbo, when Beckersen81 beat off 6,588 opponents to the first prize. The German made a deal heads up which saw him receive a little over $7,000. Beckersen81 did something similar but in a smaller field in the 2010 SCOOP to earn $11,500 in event no. 29.
The highlight of the weekend then came with the Sunday Storm Special Edition. The $300,000 guaranteed event actually saw a prize pool of $365,230 when 36,523 players tallied up the $11 buy-in. There was a heads-up deal which saw Russian player @rtemur walk away with $31,376.06.
The ninth tournament of the MicroMillions was its first non-no-limit hold’em event. The $8.80 pot-limit Omaha tournament attracted 3,492 players, almost tripling the guarantee with a $27,936 prize pool. A deal was made threehanded which saw ViTaMin_F22 from China take home the $3,896.32 lion’s share.
Event no. 12, a $3.30 no-limit hold’em tournament, was the first of three big-ante events. This was won by German egonsonnn when he bested a field of 25,466 players to earn the $6,554.96 top prize.
The next big win saw A83z of the Czech Republic take home $22,513.25 from event no. 20, a $2.22 no-limit hold’em rebuy 3x turbo, after beating 19,223 players.
Finland got a hefty score in event no. 23, a $1 no-limit hold’em rebuy 3x turbo, when 29,538 players surpassed the guarantee creating a $185,963.05 prize pool with 159,021 rebuys and 3,960 add-ons. rereissumies made a deal fourhanded and walked away with just under $16,200 for first place.
One of the bigger wins for the United Kingdom in the festival this far was in event no. 27, a $1 rebuy 3x-turbo Sunday Spark Special. CBabycee beat Australian Zim02 for not far off $10,000. Then tron1ft8 went one step better in event no. 29, the same kind of event, lifting the title for the United Kingdom with a $12,890 win.
Event no. 33, a $2.20 no-limit hold’em rebuy 2x-turbo, saw another big German winner when JyMaster1 bested a field of 17,444 to take home just under $18,000.
Overall, Germany, Russia, the Netherlands, and the UK have been the most successful in collecting titles, but champions have been crowned from all corners of the globe – New Zealand, Australia, Bulgaria, Argentina, Romania, Uruguay, Czech Republic, Canada, Ireland, Belgium, Croatia, and more. With plenty more events yet to come, all eyes are looking ahead to the $22 MicroMillions main event which is coming up on Jul. 22. The $1 million guaranteed tournament kicks off at 2.30 p.m. (ET) and will see a minimum of $150,000 go to the champion.
