Card Player Poker Tour Choctaw -- Day 8 Results

Plenty of Action At CPPT With Main Event Looming

With the excitement of the main event looming, day 8 of the Card Player Poker Tour Choctaw packed plenty of its own action, with great turnouts and the highest buy-in event of the series thus far in event 15. All told, the day’s three events had combined prize pools totaling $131,130. Here is a look at Thursday’s results:

Event 14 – $345 No-Limit Hold’em ($50,000 Guarantee)

Joshua PalmerThe guarantees just keep getting surpassed at the CPPT Choctaw, this time exceeding the promised prize pool by more than 40%. A total of 246 players posted the $345 buy-in to build a $70,110 prize pool.

In the end Joshua Palmer emerged victorious, flopping top set with pocket jacks on the final hand. For the win the Daphne, Alabama resident captured the $17,178 first-place prize and the CPPT winner’s trophy.

Only a day after winning event 13, James Astorino backed up his win with a deep run in this event, ultimately finishing 7th.

Event 15 – $1,080 Pot-Limit Omaha

Day 1 chipleader Justin GardenhireA total of 53 players posted the biggest buy-in yet at the CPPT Choctaw series in event 15, the pot-limit Omaha championship. After roughly 12 hours of play, 11 players remain to battle it out for the $50,350 prize pool and CPPT winner’s trophy.

A number of notables are still in the mix, including chip leader, and recent WSOP National Championship final tablist Justin Gardenhire, 2011 WSOP Circuit Choctaw main event champion Huy Nguyen and 2007 Ultimate Bet Aruba Classic champion Travis Rice.

Andrew SherardA total of 110 players turned out for the nightly event, each posting the $125 buy-in to build a $10,670 prize pool. Play ended when the final four players came to a deal, with Andrew Sherard being awarded the win, having held the chiplead at the time.
